South of Spain🇪🇸: Fuengirola, Mijas Pueblo, Malaga

Hello my beautiful travel addicts!

Another day, another adventure🌍… Today, I’m going to show you few bits and pieces from my trip to Spain in September. Yes, it’s kind of late, but better late than never😆.

4 days- 3 different towns. We stayed in a beautiful large resort in Fuengirola called Wyndham residences**** with many pools, restaurants, bars and lovely gardens. The only minus was that there was no beach belonging to the hotel. That’s why we used to go to the public beach in front of the hotel. To be honest, I was a bit disappointed😏, the beaches in south are not that great at all. You can find rubbish in some parts or even dogs wandering around.

The sea temperature is a bit lower than in Mallorca or Ibiza but it’s definitely clean🌊. See the pics below for a better idea of how Fuengirola looks like🥰😉🤍.

As an old shell collector, I must say that the variety was extraordinary🤩. Ooh, how much I love walking around and looking for the pretty ones. It might as well be my favourite thing to do in general. Anyway, let’s go back to Spain. There is a beautiful Bio parc in Fuengirola. The tickets cost around 18€ and it’s a great idea to take children with you (if you have any of course😉). They go for free. You can see flamingos, tigers, tucans and other exotic animals there.

One day on the beach, next one in Fuengirola and we wanted to go to Gibraltar as well, unfortunately it was way too far and all the trips were fully booked. A local girl advised us to visit Mijas Pueblo🤍 instead. It was supposedly nicer than Marbella according to her. I wasn’t sure whether it’s a good idea or not and I didn’t want to check the pics on the internet before but we did go at the end🙂. And it was worth it for sure. See for yourself!

White houses, blue windows, donkeys, flower pots on the walls- that’s Mijas Pueblo described by few words. However, there is much more under the surface. Mijas Pueblo is also well known for a cave that was created in the 17th century by a father of 2 kids who saw Virgin Mary there.

I fell in love with this place right away💙🤍! There is just something magical about it. It’s like a mixture of Greece and Italy and we love them both equally, don’t we😍?

I would highly suggest coming early in the morning, enjoying views in the garden next to the church and shopping for souvenirs in the city centre. Donkey ride is also an option for those who don’t mind their sad faces🥲.

Last but not least, we visited the city of Malaga. Malaga reminds me of Palma with its historical centre, palm trees everywhere and charming streets with local restaurants. We had dinner in a lovely restaurant (I don’t remember the name unfortunately) but it was probably the best veggie tapas and risotto of my life😋. I don’t have many pics because we came quite late in the evening, but the atmosphere was special. We did some shopping in Zara, Bershka etc. (local brands).

So what do you think? Is it worth visiting? Let me know if you’re planning a short trip to the south of Spain and definitely book Gibraltar in advance. I’m sorry we didn’t get to see it😒, maybe next time🙃.

Until next time,

xx Lots of love xx
