Salut mes amis!
French Riviera wasn’t really on my go-to list initially, but as a child, me and my mum always watched old movies with Louis de Fuines and we loved Saint Tropez and all of the atmosphere around. And when you find an affordable flight from Vienna to Nice for the middle of August, you don’t really hesitate:). We spent 4 days in a private apartment right next to the famous Promenade d’anglais which surrounds the beach in Nice.
The flight only takes 1 hour and 30 mins, so it may be the shortest one I ever took to see the sea. Unfortunately, due to the peak of season, many flights in France are delayed or even cancelled, so it is a bit of risk to take. Anyway, we’re so glad we did it. It was worth 5 hour delay on the way back:(.
Our original plan was to discover Nice, visit Saint Tropez, walk on the red carpet in Cannes and admire luxury of Monaco. And we managed to do it all and a bit more. We spent the first day at the beach in Nice and in the evening, we took a long walk around the coast. The sunsets are always beautiful but this one was a bit special… As I get older, I may appreciate it a bit more, don’t really know, what’s happening.
When it comes to food, the only word that describes it all is: perfect! You can find so many great restaurants in the city centre and the way French eat just makes you wanna eat even if you just finished your dinner:). The portions are large and the quality of ingredients is visible from the first sight. We ate lots of crepes, pasta, soup and more crepes. Le petit dejeuner wasn’t that petit and ice-cream was to die for. French definitely know how to cook, serve, eat and enjoy all of it. I will not comment on the customer service though:(.
Nice is nice
Nice has a great location because of the beautiful sea, mountains and it’s also close to all the other lovely villages of French Riviera. The views are stunning but the streets of its vibrant city might surprise you with the ancient architecture and interesting people. As a person who loves people watching, it was amazing to see and feel the mixture of nationalities, fashion styles and age categories. Place Masséna and the Fontaine du Soleil are simply must-sees and you also can’t miss Gallerie Lafayette for a little window shopping. The port is also worth a visit and in front of it, there are cute cafés with the views of boats.

One day at Saint Tropez
There is no direct train or bus from Nice unfortunately, but you can take a train and change in St. Raphael, it takes around 3 hours. We were too lazy, so we took a taxi for only 170eur one way, oops! The traffic was crazy, but we got there in about 1hour 30 mins. Many yachts on the sea, humid air and crowds of tourists, you’ll definitely know you arrived to Saint Tropez. Our first stop was Gendarmerie nationale where the famous movies with Louis de Fuines were shot, the ticket costs 5 euros and you can sit on his chair, read about his life, see some videos and photos and also visit department of Brigitte Bardot and Romy Schneider. Great experience! Then, we walked to port which is quite close and strolled around the narrow streets. We grabbed lunch at bistro and swam in the sea for a bit.
I honestly don’t know what is all the fuzz about Saint Tropez, the movies perhaps?

Antibes, Cannes, Monaco, Eze, St. Paul de Vence
Wanna see la creme de la creme of the French Riviera? Book a trip through booking.com and visit 5 beautiful places in 1 day! Antibes is a small town with the lovely seasights and delicious coffee spots. Cannes is actually not worth the hype, just the red carpet stairs and some fancy shoes with jewelry and designer handbags, Eze and Saint Paul de Vance are charming villages in the mountains with breathtaking streets and floral corners and Monaco as cherry on top at the end with the Royal palace, gardens, port and famous casino.

I could talk about this trip for hours and write 5 pages long, but nobody would read it, so that’s it from me for now.
Bisou bisou,
Lesi Lee
